HD44780 comatible LCD Modules has 1-2 lines and 16-40 characters per line, and may display an additional information that is undesirable or is impossible to be displayed on the monitor. (For example if you all the time want to know what is the state of your server, but you don't want your monitor to be always on, you can connect an LCD Module to your computer and display on it all the information you need).
