Network Audit Toolkit consists of two parts: an auditor and a monitor. The Network Auditor allows you to scan the machines on your network, to determine what hardware and software is installed on these machines, and then to add these machines to a database. This database constitutes your Network Inventory. The Network Monitor is a program that you can run permanently to monitor the machines on your network, for faults and changes. The Network Monitor can monitor the machines that you have previously audited, using the Network Auditor. It compares the hardware and software that it finds on these machines against what you have recorded in your inventory and alerts you of changes (for example, if a piece of hardware stops working or if new software is installed on a machine). You can receive alerts from Network Monitor by email, alphanumeric pagers, numeric pagers, cell phones, PIMs, billboards or pcmcia pager cards
