There are two main types of tournaments; Single-Table and Multi-Table. Single-Table Tournaments take place at just one table. As soon as all of the seats are occupied, the tournament starts. The last player left at the table is the winner. Single-Table Tournaments allow players to enjoy the excitment of tournament play at any time. Multi-Table Tournaments are scheduled in advance of the tournament start and players must register in order to participate. These tournaments can have hundred, sometimes thousands, of players which are distributed among many tables. As the tournament progresses, and players are eliminated, the tables are consolidated. The winner of a Multi-Table Tournament is the one who ends up with all of the chips. Since so many players participate, the prize pool can become enormous and often reward the top fifty or more players.
