Medley virtual file server enables users to create a network file server using diskspace on their desktop PCs. This file server actually appears as a local harddrive so all users see the exact same disk information. Medley keeps two copies of all data so that it can withstand the failure of a PC contributing to the Medley 'Pool' (file server). Medley also uses caching algorithms to place data closest to frequenteditors of files and users of files so that often file accesses are much faster than would be experienced on a networked share. Medley is most appropriate for three PCs, up to 32 PCs. This trial kit limits users to 5 PCs donating 10 MB of space. Medley also provides NT like security on files and folders.
